The organic in architecture: the new modernity

Open and bright spaces, along with curved lines, are the most in-demand trends in architecture and interior design.

The boom in the sector is already making these new trends visible within cities.

The construction and renovation sector has been experiencing a prosperous period in recent months following the slowdown caused by the coronavirus crisis. This surge has brought to light new trends in architecture and interior design, dominated by minimalism that moves away from straight lines to play with volumes, as explained by experts from Grupo Las Rosas.

“Curves and minimalism come together to offer large open spaces that introduce a new concept,” says Francisco Álvarez Beleño, CEO of Grupo Las Rosas. In this new concept, light plays a fundamental role. Large glass windows, light colors, transparent railings, and mirrors combine to create expansive spaces where every corner is perfectly illuminated.

In addition to this interplay with light, architecture increasingly seems to emulate nature itself while avoiding ostentatious decorations. “The organic is the new modernity,” point out experts from Grupo Las Rosas. For this reason, contemporary minimalism avoids straight lines and instead favors curves and volumes that flow throughout the space, achieving a close yet avant-garde vision of the minimalism that has dominated the scene in recent years.

At the same time, many others continue to opt for ornamental details in a strong commitment to Renaissance-inspired elements, using unique pieces from Grupo Las Rosas to create spaces full of personality.

Stucco, a fine-grain paste made from slaked lime, powdered marble, gypsum, and natural pigments, among other components, is one of the most sought-after materials in the sector due to its durability and ease of maintenance.

Other materials, such as marble, are also in high demand. According to Grupo Las Rosas, they specialize in restoring and renovating both contemporary buildings and spaces with a strong historical character that require classic lines, details, and materials.

These new trends are already beginning to appear in cities thanks to the sector’s resurgence, which is expected to grow even further in the coming months with the arrival of European funds. In fact, it is estimated that around 800,000 jobs will be created in the sector this year.
